11/12/18 Weekly Reflection

Nov 12, 2018

We greet you in the name of our Lord Christ Jesus.

May the light of the Holy Spirit of our Lord, the Lord of love, mercy, and compassion shine upon all of us and may He grant us the knowledge, patience and wisdom to understand the richness of His teachings and missions which are intended to nurture our hearts and our lives.

“I came so that they might have life and have it more abundantly.” (John 10:10)

That pretty much says it all. God wants us to have the fullest life possible. One of great joy, meaning and peace. The whole spiritual endeavor is about life, and not just any kind of life, but the very best kind of life. The life God created us to live, one that is beyond our wildest imagination. So often we think of God as someone who made some arbitrary rules which we are obligated to follow.

So often we think of God as someone who was put on this earth as a test, to see if he wants to be with us for all eternity. So often we think of God as someone whose love we must earn, someone who will only be good to us if we do everything right. So often we think of God as ready to pounce, angry, disappointed, and hard to please. When we think of God in those terms, when we think of Jesus in those ways, no wonder we sometimes follow without our hearts being fully in it. Yet, a true life of faith is ultimately not about any of those things.

It’s about wanting to love our God who has loved us first. It’s about wanting to follow God’s will, because God’s way is always the best way. It’s about wanting to follow Jesus, because that’s the safest place to be. It’s about wanting to choose life. Choosing a direction, an attitude, an outlook and a vision that will help bring about the most abundant life possible. “I came so that they might have life and have it more abundantly.”My friends, following Jesus, the Good Shepherd, is all about embracing a life that is overflowing. Overflowing with love, mercy, kindness, compassion, generosity, forgiveness, and all good things.Who could possibly not want that?

Because of You, my sweet Lord,

My vision is so clear though in the nights And my heart is full of your spirit light, One God, one redemption, One spirit, one salvation, Though I walk in the symphony life, With many lows and many highs, Many sorrow and worries, For, You always walk with me.

Because of You, my sweet Lord,

My vision is so clear though in the nights

And my heart is full of your spirit light,

One God, one redemption,

One spirit, one salvation,

Though I walk in the symphony life,

With many lows and many highs,

Many sorrow and worries,

For, You always walk with me.

Only You , my merciful Lord,

You alone is all I need,

To You I wholeheartedly submit.

Amen!
