11/25/18 Weekly Reflection

Nov 27, 2018

We greet you in the name of our Lord Christ Jesus.

May the light of the Holy Spirit of our Lord, the Lord of love, mercy, and compassion shine upon all of us and may He grant us the knowledge, patience and wisdom to understand the richness of His teachings and missions which are intended to nurture our hearts and our lives.

"Great and wonderful are your works,
Lord God almighty.
Just and true are your ways,
O king of the nations.
Who will not fear you, Lord,
or glorify your name?
For you alone are holy.
All the nations will come
and worship before you,
for your righteous acts have been revealed."

The reading this Wednesday from Revelations echoes Psalm 98 in joyous praise of God and His deeds.  As we rush near the Advent season, we must keep our eyes on the great event about to be upon us. Our great God who created the forests, and sea and mountains and the very stars in the sky is about to become one of us.

We must prepare. Not by shopping till we drop, not by having the most brightly lit house visible from space, but in awe of the incomprehensible act of the Incarnation. Jesus will walk among us. He will teach us the ways of His Father and bring the Holy Spirit to guide our lives. He will give us the Sacraments as signs to show how much the Father loves His creation and humankind.

Just and true are His ways, let us glorify His name.
